How to Take Digital Photos - Don't Make These 5 Mistakes!

You can be a beginner or a pro, but there are still several mistakes that most people make while taking digital photos.

Here is where I hope to explain to you where you UNDERSTAND why these mistakes occur, and give you a few pointers on how to not make them. But even if you do still make the mistake I'm going to give you proven fixes using certain digital photo editing software.

The 1st mistake: Red-eye

Even though it's' just a small feature of a live subject in your digital photo it is a vital small part because the eyes are usually one the main places that people look at when viewing these types of photos.

Most people ask the question 'well what causes this nasty red eye effect'. I'll tell you. It's when your subject is being shot in low light the camera's flash reflects off of the subject's eyes. And the red eye is produced by the subject's blood vessels being illuminated within the retinas

You prevent it by turning your flash off and performing test shots. If you must use your flash try and get your subject to not look directly into the digital camera lens. Most digital camera manufacturers try and help us out by including a red-eye reduction setting with their products.

The HP Photosmart 7510 e-All-in-OneTake has an instant Photo Fix feature for red-eye removal without using a PC or editing software.

The Second Mistake: No focal point

By cropping, the family reclaims the spotlight and the photo still captures some of the natural surroundings. This is where cropping comes into play. By cropping your subject you have your subject spotlighted while still including your natural background. Even a great image may not come out right if there is no focal point or main subject. It doesn't matter if the focus is right, colors are accurate, and the lighting is correct. Without a proper focal point you just might not be happy with your digital photo.

No focal point can be caused by trying to capture your subject against a moving background or foreground. Or even trying to fit too much into the photo can contribute to this problem. Being too far away is a common contribution as well.

The 3rd mistake: Blur

There's nothing like trying to catch your subject while it's in motion. The only thing about that is that pesky blur you get as a result. some digital camera manufacturers have fixed this problem by including an action setting on their products. A common fix is to stabilize your digital camera so there is no shake while taking your shot. Another is to make sure you have proper lighting.

The 4th mistake: Photos that are underexposed

Underexposure can have your digital photo appear to be too dark. Again make sure you have adequate lighting while taking your digital photo. So try and take your digital photos in places that are not poorly lit. Also make sure you are not too far away from your subject.

The 5th mistake: Photos that is overexposed

Do not take take photos of your subjects in direct sunlight to avoid this problem. This will cause your digital photos to appear washed out and and possibly your photo can be too bright, washing-out the subject, obscuring details, and creating harsh shadows.
